About Flourish
Flourish is a free tool for understanding work. It helps you see what is happening where you live, where the experience you already have could take you, and what a next step looks like.
The labour market, made legible
Most people meet the world of work through a search box and a wall of adverts. That tells you what is being advertised today. It does not tell you what your experience is worth, which roles sit close to the one you know, or what is actually growing in your area. Flourish is built to answer those questions.
What Flourish is
A place to explore work near you, see how the experience you already have transfers, and leave with something you can do this week. It is free, and you do not need a CV to begin.
It is not a jobs board that promises interviews, and it is not a chatbot that guesses. Where we show a figure, you can see what it is based on.
Who it is for
People looking for work or training who find the usual job sites confusing, and who want local entry-level roles they can actually reach.
People changing path, who want to know how the skills they already have carry across into growing work nearby.
People who are not starting from nothing, and would rather begin with a place and a pathway than a blank form.
Where the evidence comes from
Counts of what is advertised come from UK job adverts gathered at scale. Typical pay comes from official statistics for the area rather than advertised salary, because advertised salary flatters the picture.
Every number on a place or role page can be traced back to a published source. If we cannot show you where a figure came from, we would rather not print it.
Made with people, not only about them
Flourish has been co-designed with young people and communities across the UK through collaborative research and design thinking. A diverse group of people helped design what you see, so it fits real lives and places.

Flourish is built by the Institute for the Future of Work, an independent research institute and registered charity (1180718) working on how technology is changing work, and on what good work looks like.
The thinking behind it is grounded in research from the Pissarides Review into the Future of Work and Wellbeing, which asked how automation and AI reshape work across the country rather than only in the places that already do well.
The outcome of this transformation is not given: it will depend on how we respond to the challenge.
